According to a recent Marijuana Business Daily survey, women hold 37% of the senior level positions at companies in the cannabis industry. Margeaux Bruner is helping lead that pack as the primary Lobbyist and Consultant at Perpetual Harvest Sustainable Solutions. It’s an organization she created to assist entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry with launching and sustaining a legally compliant and successful business. After working in the auto and real estate industries for many years, Margeaux began to consider to making a change. A television show promoting a “women in cannabis” organization lead Margeaux to a trade show event to satisfy her curiosity about the industry.
The event turned to be out an intriguing experience for Margeaux. She learned a ton about the industry, connected with a few movers and shakers and immediately recognized the opportunities. From that point on she knew she was going to make a permanent career change to the cannabis industry. Shortly after, she became a Market Leader for Women Grow in Michigan and was appointed by former Governor Rick Synder to the Impaired Driving Safety Committee representing qualified and registered cannabis patients.

She’s an advocate for helping entrepreneurs understand the importance of knowing the laws associated with starting a business in the cannabis industry. Margeaux says that many people approach her about starting a business in the industry and often times they want to do things in a way that isn’t legal. Creating Public Policies & Legislation that Creates a Fair Industry
Margeaux uses the knowledge she has gained working with licensees, organizations like Women Grow and the Impaired Driving Safety Committee to create legislation that positively impact the industry. She has a very unique understanding of public policy that creates a fair environment for everyone in the cannabis industry and connected to it. Furthermore, she has a robust understanding of the Michigan market and other states in the Midwest. She also travels extensively to other states to stay abreast with what’s going on in the industry in other states. She says policy is critical and it’s important to know all the rules and laws at the state and federal level before you do anything in the industry.
Marijuana Conviction Expungement
Margeaux says the illegality of the plant caused mass incarceration. Having a marijuana conviction on your record can prevent you from going to college and living in public housing. Senior living facilities can also deny the elderly because of marijuana convictions. This is why she is committed to creating legislation around the legalities of the plant. She served as the Political Director for Michigan Cannabis Industry Association and worked on legislation for marijuana conviction expungement.
Legalization of Banking in the Cannabis Industry
Margeaux can help cannabis businesses in Michigan open bank accounts. She also fights for the legalization of cannabis business banking in other states. (She mentioned that it’s not illegal for banks to do business in the industry, they just have to do greater due diligence with cannabis businesses).

Hosting Workshops & Coaching Sessions for Aspiring Cannabis Entrepreneurs
Margeaux is sharing her knowledge with aspiring cannabis entrepreneurs by co-hosting workshops and coaching sessions called The Greenprint at Build Institute in Detroit. At the workshop and coaching session you will learn what’s legal, how to get started in the industry, the resources that are available, and the opportunities that are present in the industry. Margeaux’s Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
For aspiring cannabis entrepreneurs, Margeaux says you have the ability to be a creator. She says almost anything is possible when you get like-minded people together in this industry. Furthermore, people have a lack of knowledge about the industry so they have a very small understanding of the scope of what they want to do and tend to get discouraged.
