PPE and Covid Safety Plans for Businesses

Covid has changed the way businesses were operated back in the beginning of 2020. With different phases of lockdown being lowered down gradually, after months of staying indoors, the uncertainty has freaked out people. The virus is not gone but the world cannot stop and thus, it is crucial to take all necessary precautions for your safety, especially in workplaces. If you run a business and own an office, then you need to have a safety plan for your work space. The key to safety is to have PPE supplies available for all your employees. These include face masks, hand sanitizers and maintaining the SOP protocols by all means. Social distancing being the key element of all.

What is PPE?

PPE stands for personal protection equipment and is crucial for reducing the risks of catching the virus. Covid is transmitted from an individual to the other through liquid droplets. This happens when an infected person sneezes or coughs near another one, who is not infected. If the individual touches their eyes, mouth or nose right after, he/she will catch the virus. This is why it is recommended that you wash your hands regularly too. PPE reduces the transmission rate. This is why doctors have been using PPE supplies during their duties for a very long time. They do not work without face shields, gloves and masks etc. as they are always around contaminated people.

Why is it important to use PPE Supplies in Workplaces?

Small and large businesses both are working hard to maintain SOP’s by using all the essential PPE supplies in their workplaces. Strict PPE is required if social distancing is extremely hard to manage. However, if you are sitting on your own, without any other individual being in your premises, of at least 5-6 ft, then you can sit without a face mask. But, in workplaces, especially small businesses, work areas are not too huge. This makes it hard to maintain social distancing at all times. Thus, it is best to use PPE supplies to keep your safety as your priority.

There are various types of face masks available in the market these days. However, it is best if you use surgical or N95 masks. Workplaces should only provide these types of masks. Do not wear cloth masks as they are not as promising as the surgical ones. However, if you can invest in N95 masks, then you can wear those as many people state that they offer two-way protection. On the contrary, there are several studies that state that surgical and N95 masks have no difference.

Hand sanitizers help in killing germs, if you catch any on your hand. As your employees cannot rush to the washroom again and again, it is best to put hand sanitizers on their table at all times. This will help them in reducing chances of transmission. Another way to ensure safety is to restrict employees to shake hands with one another. Many people are not following these SOP’s and this makes it harder to reduce the transmission. Therefore, make sure that you strictly order your employees to maintain distance and refrain from hugs, hand shakes and sitting too close to one another.

The Bottom Line

PPE is very important to limit the transmission of Covid-19. The world is adapting to this new lifestyle and it is crucial to do so, if you want to stay safe. Also, make sure that you eat healthy to keep your immunity strong, so that you can fight the virus.
