Black Owned Mental Health Gym in Metro Detroit is Rebranding the Mental Health Industry — Gets Support from Top Radio Show Host and Mental Health Advocate, Charlamagne tha God

Team Inception

According to recent studies, 1 in 5 adults experience mental illness each year and over 46 million adults in the United States experience it during their lifetime. These startling facts are becoming more recognized in our nation, especially in black and brown communities. In fact, based on reports from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health, Black/African Americans are 20% more likely to report serious mental distress than people of other races. Going to see a therapist has always been a stigma in the black community. Often times we tell each other to pray to solve our mental health challenges. However, that way of thinking has started to change over the last few years and it’s people like David McCullar and Charlamagne the God who are influencing that change.

David McCullar, Founder of Inception.

Inception — The First Mental Health Gym for People Who Want to Live Their Best Life

David McCullar is the Founder of Inception, the worlds first mental health gym. He has always been forward thinking in regards to mental health. While dealing with his own mental health issues (i.e. depression and anxiety) he realized the importance of facing those issues head on. He was introduced to Brain Training (neurofeedback) as an alternative healing solution. He said it helped him drastically improve his life and he knew from that point on that he wanted to use it to help others. This is how Inception was born. You can now visit the gym and get access to a number of alternative mental health services including Flotation Therapy, NeuroOptimal (NeuroFeedback) Brain Training, Magnasphere, and Salt Therapy.

Inception is About Bringing Balance to the Brain and Body’s Systems vs Treating Symptoms

Inception has been well received by many, including Charlamagne tha God, Co-Host of popular radio show, The Breakfast Club and a well-known mental health advocate in the black community. This is partly because Inception is all about promoting solutions that resolve mental health problems rather than masking symptoms like traditional medicine. If you watch The Breakfast Club on YouTube or listen to Power 105.1 FM in the morning, you’ll hear Charlamagne talk about the importance of seeing a licensed therapist on a regular basis, rather than dealing with mental health challenges on your own. That’s why it was no surprise to David when he connected with Charlamagne. The way they think about mental health is what attracted them to one another, says David.

Charlamagne tha God has visited Inception several times to experience all it has to offer. He continues to lend his support to the growing mental health gym.

Education is the Key to Understanding How Well Alternative Mental Health Solutions Can Work for You

Most people in the United States are taught to go see a traditional medical doctor for their ailments. Once you get to the doctor, the first thing they do is diagnose your symptoms and provide you with a prescription. This has been the regular routine for a century. Because of this, David says building a business in the mental health industry can be tough. However, he has remained committed to educating people on the understanding how stress and trauma affects us daily and alternative health solutions that help us find balance. He continues to travel all over the country participating as a guest on podcasts and speaking to teach the masses about mental health and Inception.
