Nigerian Entrepreneur Launches Non-Medical Home Care Agency in Metro Detroit – Shares the Secrets to Her Success in the U.S.

Serving the sick, elderly and disabled has always been Amy Salako’s passion. Her chosen major in college was HR Management and Health Service Administration. She also worked as a Patient Care Provider while in school. She’s definitely no stranger to helping others. After graduating from Baker College in Auburn Hills, Michigan, she decided to focus on building her dream business full time. With 15 years of experience in the healthcare field, she knew exactly what her business model would be– improving the quality of life for the sick, elderly and disabled by offering them non-medical home care and transportation services. Nothing gives her more joy than helping those in need and doing so on her own terms.

Why She Chose Entrepreneurship Instead of a Job

Founder, Brandywynne Agency

When I met with her, I asked her what attracted her to entrepreneurship the most. It can be a challenge to build a thriving business so I’m always curious to know what motivates someone to take this type of risk. She was quick to say that she never wanted to be apart of the rat race. She wanted to work smarter (not harder) and felt entrepreneurship was the best way to do that.  Amy stated that “being an entrepreneur gives her a lot of flexibility and enables her to meet the needs of everyone she’s around (including her family and patients).”

What Makes Her Company Unique?

Her company, BrandyWynne Agency provides her with the flexibility she needs to live a comfortable life and enables her to live out her dreams of taking care of those in need. What sets her agency apart from many of the non-medical home care providers in the area is their ability to provide clients with regular caregivers. They also have nurses on-call. Most agencies have high turn-over rates amongst caregivers. However, BrandyWynne Agency retains it’s caregivers for long periods of time. Clients of the agency can expect to receive long-term access to caregivers they can truly get to know so trust is developed. They are all about building long-term relationships with clients and their families.

The Secrets to BrandyWynne Agency’s Success

Following this business model has enabled Amy to develop long term client relationships which is crucial for the sustainability of her business. Those relationships have resulted in more client referrals for her business. I also asked what suggestions she has for other aspiring entrepreneurs who are starting a non-medical home care business. She stated that “networking with assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and lawyers who have clients that are accident victims are good ways to get clients.” Clients and sales are the lifeblood of all businesses so this is an important tip for aspiring entrepreneurs who want to start generating revenue immediately in the non-medical home care services industry.

Amy also stated that, “ultimately your goal should be to keep your clients happy and healthy.” BrandyWynne Agency remains committed to providing their clients with the best quality of service to help them stay healthy and be happy. They also don’t turn down any potential client because they have financial challenges. They work within their budget. They also accept private pay and Medicare.
