Katrina Wilson, Founder & Head Stylist of Cremè Brûlée.

Katrina Wilson has always had a knack for helping people to look their best. She began styling hair at age 13, working right out of her grandmother’s basement. Well aware of her gift, she decided to take it a step further and earn her Cosmetology license at age 16. She immediately began working in a beauty salon and shortly after she began working as a platform artist and celebrity stylist. In no time she received the endorsement of Paul Mitchell while working for the Magnet Agency and Mandeville Beauty Group. With these accolades, it’s no surprise that she has gone on to create the first multicultural, celebrity beauty salon in downtown Detroit.

Why Entrepreneurship?

A life long entrepreneur and hustler, Katrina is no stranger to entrepreneurship. For as long as she could remember she always styled hair and kept at least two jobs under her belt. Growing up in a household that struggled financially, Katrina decided she wanted to experience something different in her adult life. This and her passion for having access to the best of the best fueled her desire to be a successful entrepreneur. Out of that desire Cremè Brûlée was born.

A place of sanity and serenity. Katrina likes to call it “your new place of happiness.” Now that funding is in place, Katrina is making her dreams a reality. Along with her supportive team, her vision of an upscale, multicultural celebrity beauty salon has come to life. That vision is Cremè Brûlée. A space has been secured in Downtown Detroit, an area where salons of this type don’t exist. What makes Cremè Brûlée different? It’s a salon that was designed to serve people regardless of their hair texture or ethnicity. Not only will clients enjoy the celebrity experience, they will get to do it in the heart of the city.

Why Downtown Detroit?

Downtown Detroit is loud, proud and full of excitement. Entrepreneurs from all over the city are contributing to its continuous development. Cremè Brûlée is now apart of that development. It’s partly due to receiving $170,000 in grants from various sources and the Space Award from the Motor City Match Program, a program created to help Detroit area entrepreneurs find a location, design their space and build it out. Working with QT Business Solutions to secure $426,000 in microloans also helped seal the deal! All in all, Katrina and her team felt as though downtown Detroit was the best location for a salon of this type. The space is currently being renovated with the funding obtained. The grand opening of the salon is underway for Spring 2020 in the West Grand Blvd/ Baltimore station area.

Cremè Brûlée Detroit Serves All Hair Textures & Ethnicities and Gives Back to the Community

Cremè Brûlée Detroit Team

Cremè Brûlée is a multifaceted, multicultural salon that provides an unmatched client experience by serving all hair textures and ethnicities. There are no other salons in the metro Detroit area that fit this description. All the salons in the area cater to only one type of hair texture or ethnicity. No single salon in the area serves both.

Katrina not only wants to differentiate Cremè Brûlée from other salons in the area, she also wants to give back. She started a 501(c)3 non-profit organization called The Cute and Covered Foundation to do just that. Through her nonprofit she works specifically with females of all ages to close the literacy gap. The organization focuses on teaching financial literacy, self confidence, and etiquette. Both Cremè Brûleè and The Cute and Covered Foundation enable women to look and feel their best as well as flourish in the career they choose to pursue. If you’re interested in learning more about Cremè Brûleè, The Cute and Covered Foundation or simply becoming a client, go here to contact Katrina Wilson and team or call (313) 768-9068 (Monday – Saturday: 11am – 7pm).
